Delivery glasses

A small display built into glasses for Amazon delivery drivers. Green text in one eye shows the next address and the next step. A driver with both hands full of parcels does not have to stop and look at a phone.
The display sits in front of one eye. I designed the light path from the projector to that eye, from April to July 2025. A tiny MicroLED projector makes the image. A waveguide carries that light through the lens and turns it out towards the eye. A set of custom lenses sits around it.
Light is the hard part of a display like this. This is the general problem, not one incident. A driver steps out of a dim van into full sun and back again, many times an hour. Bright sun is well over a thousand times brighter than the inside of a van. A display bright enough to read in that sun is blinding in the dark. Turn it down for the dark and it disappears outside. A brighter display also uses more battery, and a bigger battery is more weight on the face. The fix is spread over several parts: how much of the projector’s light reaches the eye, how much outside light falls where the image sits, and how fast the display changes brightness when the driver walks from sun into shade. Green helps, because the eye sees green better than red or blue.
