I build hardware.

I grew up between countries. A Bangladeshi family, some years in South Africa, school in Canada, and now California. There is family on three continents.

I studied mechatronics engineering at the University of Waterloo. After I graduated I washed dishes for money. Then Apple called.

I spent nearly five years at Apple, on the product design team for what became the Vision Pro. I worked on it from the first drawings through to mass production. My name is on twenty granted US patents from those years, nearly all of them head-mounted display hardware. I cannot say more than that.

Since then I built a basketball robot in a garage, designed the optics for Amazon’s delivery glasses, started a company that makes pens and notebooks out of titanium, and co-founded Blue, which went through Y Combinator in 2025.

I applied to Y Combinator twelve times. Eleven of those were rejections.

Why the work looks like this

I am Muslim. That is why I work the way I do.

There is a word for it, ihsan. The short form of it sits at the bottom of every page here:

Ahsin. Innahu yara. Do it well. He sees.

Ihsan means doing the hidden parts of a job as well as the parts people can see. A measurement that is slightly off gets fixed even when nobody would have checked. I try to keep in mind the person who buys the thing, and the two hundred people who handled it before it reached them.

I fall short often.

Writing

I write poems and essays. Most of what is here started in a notebook, by hand. On YouTube I read other people’s poems out loud on a channel called Poetic License. There is a novel in progress. There is also a long essay about going back to Dhaka after eight years away.

Right now

August 2026. Building Capstan, a glove that helps a weak hand close. It started with a stranger who messaged me because he had been stuck behind a door he could not open. Still shipping hardware at Blue. Taking a small number of consulting projects.
